Voted the ‘Best Big Band in the Land’ for the eighth year running, the Syd Lawrence Orchestra return to Lighthouse, Poole’s centre for the arts, on Thursday 24 October with their explosive new show, Big Band Spectacular.
Directed by Chris Dean, audiences will need to hold on tight as the Orchestra takes a thrillingly dynamic journey that is packed with Big Band favourites from the likes of Glenn Miller, Count Basie, Tommy Dorsey, Neal Hefti, Billy May, Frank Sinatra, Ella Fitzgerald and many more.
Founded in 1967 by the late, great trumpeter and arranger, the Syd Lawrence Orchestra enjoys a deserved reputation for its blend of high octane Big Band Swing and classic dance music. Directed since Syd’s retirement in 1996 by Chris Dean, the Orchestra draws on a repertoire of more than 1200 tunes and is sounding better than ever.
